Over the past few weeks I have been compiling a project list. My projects range from personal artwork for my stories, fan art, contests, gifts, and possibly some requests.
I ended up going through my sketchbooks that I could recover from the past 9 years. I found many sketches that I liked and wondered why I did not finish them. Often it was because I felt insecure about my artwork and would abandon it and I often became very busy with school and eventually working.
So I intend to upload works from when I was 13 (I'm 22 now!) all the way up to age 21. I'll be uploading them in my original gallery, then moving to scraps or a specific gallery folder for this experimentation, as I complete each picture. I will be uploading various versions for some pictures and either keeping the style I had back then and sometimes tweak the style to my current preferences or I may keep the original style but actually complete the sketch and then proceed to colour it. I may colour it digitally or traditionally. It really depends on the artwork. But I am very likely to do a couple different versions to experiment.
Some pictures may only get one version while others may perhaps have up to five! It really depends. But it's a project I'm determined to complete. I also intend to post old works I liked from my other accounts
. I may redo some of these as well.
Over the past year or so I've been beating myself up for not having a distinct style, but when it comes down to it, I can draw realistically for some pictures or adapt an anime influenced style for some. This project is all about experimentation and exploration with my artistic style(s).
I have some names that I may use for this experiment such as Artistic Journey or something of the like. I haven't completely decided, but I will within the next couple weeks. I may not get started on this project right away only because I am moving on January 16th to a new and better house that will give me the studio room I require for my artistic endeavours.
On top of this experiment, I have several stories I intend to work on, making them comics, and eventually some will be video games after I complete my degree in video game design. My main focus is on a story called Elemental Creed, something I've been working on for nearly six years, extensively in the past 7 months.
On top of that I also have a giant list of fan art and gifts I'd like to make. There are also many art challenges I'm interested in tackling. I sure have a lot on my plate but when my list is complete, I will feel so accomplished and that I've achieved something artistically and meaningful.
As for my degree in video game design, I must also dedicate some time each week to exploring and fully completing more games and I'm definitely looking forward to that mission. For the longest time I've been so busy with work and other events that I've hardly had any time to dedicate to video games and artwork or even writing my short stories and novel ideas. It's time to set aside unimportant matters and focus on writing, drawing, and designing like I have always wanted. Happy New Year after all!
